In the Name of Allah; Most-Merciful, Most-Compassionate.
Leader of the Believers Ali ibn abi Talib can not be described within a short post such as this, however inshaAllah the following narrations will shed some light on the personal life of this amazing companion and member of the Prophetic family (may Allah be pleased with him):
Al Shi’bi narrated that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I married Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, and she and I had no furnishings apart from the skin of a ram on which we slept at night, and on which we carried food to our camel during the day.”
Mujahid narrates that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I got very hungry in Madinah, and I went out looking for work in the outskirts of the city. There was a woman who had gathered some dirt, and I thought she wanted to wet it so I went to her and made an agreement with her that she would give me one date for each bucket. I brought sixteen buckets, until my hands swelled up, then I brought the water and drank some of it. I put my hands like this in front of her hands and she counted sixteen dates for me. Then I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him, and he ate some of them with me.”
The life of Fatima and Ali (may Allah be pleased with them) was simple and contained hardships. One day Ali said to Fatimah: “By Allah, I have brought water until I feel pain in my chest. Some captives have been brought to your father, go and ask him for a servant.” She said: “And I, by Allah, have ground flour until my hands became sore.” So she went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he asked: “What brings you here, ‘O my daughter?” She said: “I have come to greet you.” She felt too shy to ask him, so she went back. When she returned, Ali asked: “What happened?” She said: “I felt too shy to ask him.” So, they went together and Ali said: “O Messenger of Allah, by Allah I have brought water until I started to feel pain in my chest.” And Fatima said: “I have ground flour until my hands hurt. Allah has brought you plenty of captives so give us a servant.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “By Allah I will not give it to you and leave ahl suffah (the poor people in the mosque) starving when I have nothing to spend on them. Rather I will sell them and spend the price on ahl suffah.” So they went back. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, when they were under the cover, which if it covered their feet it left their heads bare. They wanted to get up, but he said: “Stay where you are.” He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Shall I not tell you of something that is better than what you asked for?” They said: “Yes.” He said: “Words that Jibril taught me: Following every prayer, glorify Allah ten times, praise Him ten times and magnify Him ten times. When you go to your bed glorify Allah thirty-three times, praise Him thirty-three times and magnify Him thirty-four times.”
May Allah be pleased with Ali ibn abi Talib and Fatima the daughter of the Messenger of Allah.

asSalaam alaykum anonymous,
I read as much as I can. Most of this information comes from texts, sometimes from a lecture, however mostly the former.
barak Allah fiikum.
Wahakum asSalaam,
I would like to know how you get time to read. I always plan on sitting and reading books but always lose track of time. Do you have any good talk or time management. I want to divide my 24hrs with deen, work/school and family but till now i am only giving time to work/school and sleep. Please help us all with it inshaAllah
inshaAllah I will keep this in mind and try to write about it, however I don't think I have many secrets. I try not to waste any time and ensure my time is used effectively. I did write about something that may have some good suggestions:
http://www.alhamdulilah.info/2010/11/sleeping-habits.html
may Allah bless our time and guide us to use it wisely.
Yeah! i did read that article but what I am requesting is how to divide time. for example we have 24hrs in day and out of that we spend 8 -9 hrs at work, 1-2 hrs eating, 2hrs driving to work, 5 times pray 45min to 1hr, sleep 7hrs and 2 hrs playing or talking and we lose 24hrs what I want to see is how to manage time with real world experience instead of just saying leave work and send on deen but instead manage time but cutting this and put set timing, I hope you are understanding what i am trying see from your article inshaAllah.
Yes, I understand. I will try to do something like this in the near future inshaAllah. barakAllah fiikum.
Will inshaAllah be waiting for this article eagerly.
For now, try to set aside one hour a day, you'll be amazed at how much you'll get done with consistency.
Also, I am not sure my personal time management will be suited to everyone (people have unique work, family and personal situations) so inshaAllah I will post some things related to time. However, I will keep this post in mind and try to find a nice way to write about time management in general. barakAllah fiikum.
