1) Two sisters handing out socks to children as they walk around in the Haram.
2) A brother who fills cups of zamzam water hands out the cups.
3) A brother with a stack of plastic bags which he hands out to people carrying their shoes in the Haram.
4) Elderly brothers sit in the Haram with piles of dates, which they freely handout to passers by.
5) Someone offers to help a sister push a wheelchair on the ramps.
These are just a few examples I saw in Mecca of innovative people seeking rewards from Allah by assisting others. May Allah reward them all with Jennah. What is even more impressive is that some of these are on-the-spot ideas. A person sees or feels a need and finds a way to help others. Take for example the brother who filled cups with zamzam water and stood handing them out. He did not bring any materials, rather he used the provided cups and water. He took many trips to fill more cups and return to hand them out. MashaAllah this idea is wonderful. Many people needed drink and benefitted from the efforts of this ajr entrepreneur.
May Allah guide us all to the Straight Path.
May Allah make us all ajr entrepreneurs for His sake.

Asalaam alaikum!
Alhamdollillah! May Allah reward all those who seek His grace and His pleasure.
I remember a woman from Peshawar who gave me a sliver of space to pray when all the womens section was full and taught me the dua in sajdah, She gets hasanaat evertime I make that dua.
And now a little on linguistics. We only think of some names we cannot create, only He Subhanawataala is teh creator and guides us how to earn His pleasure.
JazaikAllah hu Khairan!
wa'alaykum salaam wa rahmatullah,
BarahAllah fiikum.
I am not sure I understood the point you were making about linguistics ... can you clarify for me?
wa'salaam
Masha Allah.
I like this idea. The Arabic word I know for it is 'ethar' which is giving others preference over you. But that has to do with deference and is more personal courtesy, but what you are getting at here with acts of khayr is benevolence and the use of creative sincerity (ikhlas).
BarakAllah fiikum Muslimology.
"ajr" means reward. So, the "ajr entrepreneurs" are those innovative people working for rewards from Allah.
For example, "ajr" is used in the following du'a:
[Arabic]
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَ ابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ، وَ ثَبَتَ الأجْرُ إنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ
[Transliteration]
Dhahaba al-zama’ wa abtalat al-’urooq wa thabata al-ajr in sha Allaah
[Translation]
The thrist is gone, the veins are moistened and the reward is confirmed, is Allah [Ta'ala] Wills
And, Allah knows best.
I love the term! We should constantly be on the prowl for ways to please Allah (swt)! In this day & age, I feel the possibilities are endless, if only we stop and think about the little things that could make a difference.
To add to your list, while I preforming Tawaf last Ramadan, a brother slightly ahead of me held a box of tissues on his shoulder open for those passing to grab. Simple idea but definitely one that would make me think of this term you have coined (had i known it at the time, lol)
Only recently discovered this blog & am so glad that I did because i've really enjoyed reading the posts so far. Good stuff mashAllah.
Welcome InspiredDaughter.
Glad you enjoyed the post (and others).
masha'Allah, I love the title, ajr entrepreneur. may Allah swt allow us all to become one, Ameen.
I really love number two, the man handing out zam zam water to passer-byers, i'm almost kinda jealous of him (in a good way of course, heh)
