Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)

Bismillah. InshaAllah, today a simple reminder about something we may have not considered. One of modern times most well known and famous figures is Nelson Mandela: his struggle for freedom and the removal of apartheid and oppression in South Africa. His autobiography is about 650 pages. You might now be wondering, how this relates to the topic title: Prophet Muhammad (upon him be blessings and peace).

Mr. Mandela is a living figure, well known and famous in modern times. However, what is amazing and in fact utterly shocking is that we know more about the life of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, than we do about Nelson Mandela. There are literally thousands upon thousands of books written about him, peace be upon him, and we know not only what he said and what he did, but also what his companions said and did around him and how his body language and facial expressions were when he taught certain lessons – peace and blessings be upon him. We know minute details on a day to day basis from the most mundane of daily routine activities to the complex issues of running a nation. Having such a detailed account is unheard of in human history, with this brilliant exception, by the mercy of Allah.

Thus, today, inshaAllah we will give a moment of thought about this idea. InshaAllah we will be inspired to know more about him, peace be upon him. For the more we learn the more we are utterly amazed at his wisdom. As for myself, learning about the biography of Prophet Muhammad pushed me to learn more about this religion – because if it had not been for the thousands of people who reported what he did, peace be upon him, by Muslim and non-Muslim reporters, visitors and witnesses one would probably not believe such a character existed. And, alhamdulilah he did. Alhamdulilah.

"And We have not sent you except as a mercy to mankind" (21:107)
